The Blue Velvet couch lives in the ‘good room’, where fortunately you no longer have to wait for an invitation to enter. This imagined interior space is a personal retreat surrounded by all the things that bring comfort. A welcoming retreat for all to be lived in and enjoyed.

Artist BIO:

Based in Margaret River WA, Amanda paints fulltime in her home studio overlooking the bush. Inspired by the beauty and calm of the familiar, Amanda selects personal treasures and overlooked objects, thereby embedding memories in her still life and interior compositions. Amanda's imagined interior works depict common landscapes that aim to connect the viewer’s memories, present and past, evoking feelings of nostalgia.

Amanda takes inspiration from those simple moments when light passes through a piece of glass or reflection is noted causing her to pause, calm and see the beauty of the everyday. Her works explore the notion of gratitude and the extent that everyday items can merge with creativity to result in harmony and joy. Focussing on light and shadow, Amanda often includes elements from her garden, with a desire that the viewer feel a more personal connection to the work.

Amanda is a 2024 finalist in the Lethbridge 20000 and previous finalist in Unearthed Art Prize (2023), Lethbridge 20000 Salon and The Little Things Art Prize (2022).
