BELINDA JEANES

Belinda is a Perth based artist working primarily in acrylics on board and canvas. Raised in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, a love of nature and the outdoors led to a career in environmental science with a focus on the botanical world. An interest in art was maintained in the background as the familiar story of travel, work, marriage and motherhood brought joy. The inevitable realisation that time is not infinite has, however, finally placed a paintbrush in her hand.

 Belinda’s current work concentrates on the genre of still life with the aim of capturing the tiny moments of awe that can be found in the most familiar and mundane of places but, more often than not, go unnoticed. Her passion for Australian flora and an interest in the sentimentality placed on objects, both inherited and collected, appear often as subject material. Her paintings often portray a sense of melancholy or sometimes whimsy, but always with the common thread of time passing.

Belinda had her hugely successful inaugural solo exhibition with Weswal Gallery in April/May 2022.
