Sonia Martignon

Nature takes centre stage in Green Horizons. Lush botanical gardens evoke a place where plant life has reclaimed its territory, creating an oasis in the heart of urban sprawl. With little or no sky visible, it is easy to feel enveloped in these vibrant, re-wilded landscapes, where the horizon is green, and the future, though uncertain, is rich with possibility.
Based in the Northern Territory, Sonia Martignon is immersed in lush tropical landscapes which she depicts through painting and pyrography on plywood. Sonia obtained a Bachelor of Fine Art and, after completing further studies in architecture and education, she is also a qualified teacher. Beginning a full time art practice in 2019, Sonia has held solo exhibitions and participated in multiple curated group shows across Australia. Her work has been selected and exhibited in several national art prizes and she was awarded the KAAF Art Prize in 2022.
““For nature lives in perfect rhyme,
Through seasons, soil, and endless time.
In botanical harmony, we begin to see,
The earth is wild, and so are we.””
