Cheryl Willcox, Mother-Nature

While the effect of drought is apparent the artists chooses to depict the eternal hope and beauty of Mother Nature

This exhibition captures  the beauty and power of nature, in stark contrast to the adverse drought and subsequent water restrictions and the larger threatening shadow of climate change. Despite the bleak environment, the artist delivers a series of colourful and vibrant oil paintings that defy the drought.

The seeds of the work came from visiting her mother in  Tamworth  and the time they have spent together in  the garden which has changed dramatically over the last several drought effected years.  Today,  this  once beautiful garden is slowly being decimated, bar for one oasis that continues the struggle to thrive, bloom and blossom and ensuring hope springs eternal.

Through the frugal use of grey and ‘cold’ pre shower water her mother has created a  small explosion of colour that is testimony to the ancient  combination of resilient human spirit with Mother natures’ pursuit of beauty.  All flowering at her back door.

Cheryl Willcox grew up in the New England region and attended Tamworth High School.  Currently living at North Avoca on the Central Coast she has just launched Gallery Tramway.  Her work concentrates on her two themes of Love where You Live and Celebrate Your Colours. This latest collection delivers on both themes and throws inspiration to others to make the most of their colours.
