Lhere Pirnte is the Arrernte (aboriginal people in Central Australia) language for Larapinta which means salty river – the sacred source of life in a dry land – which is the Finke River. During May this year Paula painted around the Finke River area in the West MacDonnell Ranges in Central Australia.
The land was both rugged and vibrant – vibrant due to the recent heavy rains and the resulting abundance of wildflowers against the red earth. This was Paula’s 4th trip to Central Australia, and she never tires of its immense beauty and strong cultural presence.
