Born in Walcha and now based in Sydney, Gemma received a BFA from the National Art School in Darlinghurst, majoring in Printmaking.

In this series Gemma brings back the fictional character, Old Bob. Says Gemma of Old Bob: ”…grungy linework and dark humour that comes with Old Bob. I've used him as a way to explore my more personal internal struggles on and off over the years.He came about in drawing class way back in art school in 2010, he's served my artistic process countless times, he may seem down trodden but he is a survivor!The more I've learnt about psychology, the more I realise how important he is. When there's light, he's behind me, He's my shadow.”
