Janna's practice examines the relationship individuals have with nature and the way in which we turn to specific landscapes for solace, grounding and rejuvenation. Our identity is tied to a certain place as we develop our sense of self against that set landscape. As we move through life it is this same environment to which we return to draw , inspiration, hope and energy.

Painted primarily in bitumen and oil paint on paper, Janna's work reflects a deeply personal, yet in many ways universal journey of moving through life and developing a connection to land.

As a pancea to the emotional immediacy of impressionist and abstract work, Janna creates fibre installations, tufting or weaving to enjoy the methodical counterpoint to her painting practice. She works exclusively with wool due to it’s sustainable properties and relevance to her home region, the New England tablelands.
