Katie Harvey is a painter whose work extends into video and installation practice. Katie is currently based on Kamiloroi Country, Regional NSW where she also grew up. She completed her Honours of Fine Art in 2019 at RMIT, Melbourne, in 2017 studied at the School of Art Institute of Chicago, and is currently completing her Masters’s in Therapeutic Creative Arts at MIECAT. Katie has held solo shows, participated in multiple group shows, and artist residencies. This is her first major showing in her hometown of Tamworth.
Katie’s work is explorative of perception, traversing between semi figuration and abstraction— preoccupied by light and visual metamorphosis.
Representation of landscapes, architecture, grids, and gestural figuration are recurring in her oeuvre. The choreography of these themes synthesized by Katie’s utilization of colour theory, invite the viewer toward a deeper analysis of perception and explorations of the psyche.
