Artists Note:
This artwork reminds me of a really specific memory. It was the end of August and I was staying at my parents house in Daruka, Tamworth. It was early, maybe 6am, and I had no business being awake. But this morning I woke up, and took a walk outside.
I stood on the cool grass, and watched as an incredible sunrise flashed over the hills, lighting the clouds in soft pinks and peaches. There was a warm wind whipping the tops of the gums. It felt as if I was watching the start of a stage performance, the curtain rising for spring, an orchestra beginning to play, the sound rising and falling, gradually building in energy. Spring was rolling in from the east in the valley, and as the sun crested over the hills, the orchestra of leaves and wind whipped to a crescendo and then fell silent.
