Xanthe McCrea
Xanthe McCrea is a multifaceted artist living in the rural of Coonabarabran, NSW.
Xanthe studied a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts at the University of NSW and since graduating in 2020, has cultivated her own businesses in both painting and photography.
“I have always been creative, and after leaving high school, I realised that a career that was rooted in creativity was the only option for me. My practice stems from the power that creativity has in aiding my mental health. Art allows me to get out of my head, and to focus on another task. The goal for my art is to create a safe mental space for others when they see my work, even if it's only for 2 minutes. As a painter, I am deeply inspired by organic landscapes and its relationship to bold colour. For me, when I see a fun colour, I feel happy. So I try to inject as much ‘fun’ into my paintings as possible. I’ve had few people say that my work is joyful, or a celebration of colour, and that is exactly what I am aiming for.”
Xanthe’s artwork has been shown in galleries and boutiques all over NSW. Locations include Sydney, Mudgee, Dubbo, Orange, Narromine, Warren, Coonabarabran…and now, Tamworth!
